Murata Electronics Oy

Tiny little sensors that help cars stay in their lanes, keep people’s hearts beating and ensure that bridges don’t collapse – how cool is that? The world and life are in a continuous movement, and our inertial MEMS sensors measure that movement – to make the world a safer place for us all.

World of MEMS

Our high-tech house is located in the “Silicon Valley” of Vantaa, where we design, develop and manufacture accelerometers, inclinometers and gyro sensors based on our very own 3D MEMS technology. They are called inertial sensors because they have tiny movable silicon masses inside of them, and we can detect the nanometer-scale motion of those masses with our integrated semiconductor chip. Our customers all around the world use our sensors to measure different movement like acceleration, inclination, vibration and angular rate. Our sensors are typically used in applications where reliability is a must – such as cars and pacemakers. It’s amazing to think that every minute, somewhere in the world, our sensors are installed in 50 new cars and a pacemaker with a Murata sensor is installed in a patient! We think this is semi-fun – or more than that!

How do you see the future of the new mobility world? We believe that there will be various ways to move people and goods in a safe and environmentally friendly and automated way. Why not join us – let’s make this vision come true together!
